Sulake is a social entertainment company focused on providing safe and fun online services for self-expression. Our mission is to enable our users to meet new people, make friends and give them a place to create and share content in enticing virtual surroundings. We make online web and mobile-based games, and we are good at it! We´re currently operating and developing two games: Hotel Hideaway and Habbo. Hotel Hideaway is a social online role-playing game for young adults and Habbo is famous for being one of the world's oldest and most popular social hangouts for teens.

Sulake is part of Azerion, a Dutch-based international gaming company in the media and entertainment business. Together we are a diverse group of various media and technology brands.

We are looking for a Tech People Manager to join our team in Helsinki. 

As a Tech People Manager, you will be responsible for people managing and supervising the technology team, a team that consists of 20+ extremely talented professionals (Developers, Scrum Masters and IT Engineers). 

You will not be responsible for making technical decisions or assigning technical tasks to the tech team but for you to succeed in this role, it is crucial that you have a software engineering education or experience that allows you to understand and follow relevant issues and discussions and be able to understand what your team is doing. 

To succeed in this role, you will also have to be a DO-er, someone who is extremely proactive and enthusiastic and gets things done. You can identify and resolve problems before they develop, and you are excellent when it comes to engaging, motivating and supporting the team. Your communications skills are excellent: you don't just talk about the issues, you fix them. 


  • Managing a team consisting of 20+ professionals.
  • Ensuring that staff have an excellent quality of life at work.
  • Offering career growth guidance and assistance. Help team members to reach their professional goals. 
  • Assessment of our technology staffing needs and the resultant recruitment and onboarding (together with the Head of HR).
  • Monthly one-to-ones and daily discussions with members of the tech team.
  • To support and motivate the team.
  • Administrative tasks: process requests for different types of work leaves etc.
  • Employee evaluation and engagement when it comes to assessment of team members’ professionalism, attendance and performance at work.
  • To create trust and a sense of belonging within the team.
  • To ensure that we have a happy team.

Skills required:

  • Excellent people-focused and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication.
  • Excellent coordination and administrative skills.
  • Knowledge of Finnish labour laws.

  • Software engineering education or similar.
  • 3+ years proven experience in management of people and the ability to motivate through change.
